"Underground"

PJ and Smiley - aka Shut Up and Dance - were the first producers to combine sppedded-up hip-hop beats with the harsh drive of techno and the obliterating giant bass of reggae soundsystem culture to create what became known as hardcore. Without them, there would be no drum and bass, no UK garage, no Prodigy, no Chemical Brothers. Their sound is raw, belligerent and innovative, but is well worth the rough ride powered throughout by huge rolling basslines. Well worth a listen, and musically sound.
