New Brow - The Rise Of Underground Art
03 February 2010
London Miles Gallery is proud to host the premiere UK screening of Contemporary Art documentary, "New Brow - The Rise Of Underground Art".
New Brow - The Rise Of Underground Art
"New Brow - The Rise Of Underground Art" is a feature film presented by Humble Pictures in association with The Shooting Gallery from San Francisco, California. The documentary features some of today's most influential and groundbreaking artists from the New Contemporary Art movement, such as Shepard Fairey, Ron English, Silvia Ji, Gary Baseman, Shag and many more, who speak openly and enlightening about the growing art movement and its origins. The documentary not only includes first-hand accounts from an impressive list of pioneering artists, but also showcases the important galleries and collectors who adopted, and continue to drive the New Contemporary Art movement today.
Pop Surrealism and Low Brow is a wide spread populist art movement with origins in Low Brow art, underground comix, punk music, hotrod street culture, Kustum culture, Street Art, Graffiti, Graphic Design, Tattoo, Surf Culture, Tiki Culture and other California sub-cultures.
This is not a current version of Modern Pop Art. This a new movement, a new thinking in the art world. These are the artists that will inspire a new generation.
Just as artists from the expressionist, Ab-Ex and Pop Art periods their importance was unrealised until many years after they were "discovered". Most of the public has already seen these new artists through their other work, ad campaigns, tshirts, album covers and graphic design.
